What I can offer

Voluntary Redundancy in March 2006 gave me the opportunity to qualify in the area that holds my greatest interest and passion.

I enrolled with the Australian Institute of Fitness, a 6-week intensive residential training course in September 2006. This comprehensive and intense method of learning included study in the following areas:

Fitness instructor

  • Fitness essential
  • Gym instruction
  • Group exercise

Personal Trainer

  • One-to-one training
  • Nutrition
  • Rehabilitation
  • Strength & sports conditioning
  • Advanced programming
  • Special populations
  • Fitness business

As a qualified Master Trainer I am now able to promote my natural interest in health and fitness from a position of having a theory base, practical application and reference to scientific research.

As a mature female I feel I have the unique opportunity to demonstrate that age is not a barrier to fitness and can offer the average person the encouragement in supporting their fitness goals.

I also have the advantage of being able to utilise my social work and counselling skills to be more effective in communication, life skills development and problem solving.

Working in a highly stressful profession I have learnt the essential role of humour & the ability to translate challenging tasks into manageable & achievable steps that can become enjoyable & rewarding from success achieved.

As a vegetarian I have engaged in a natural interest in healthy eating. I recognise nutrition as an essential component in the improvement of health & weight management & can advise accordingly

My management experience will ensure professional integrity and management of my professional role. I hold an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate & therefore cleared to work with children.

I am looking for part time hours to give me opportunity to practice my learning whilst furthering my learning to eventually specialise in special populations.

"I am a mid-forties overweight insulin dependent diabetic. Val has painstakingly put together an exercise regime and nutritional diet, but most importantly given me the confidence and encouragement I needed to achieve a healthier life style. I would have no hesitation in recommending Val as a Personal Trainer."

"Hopefully many of you will remember Mr. Motivator, well now meet Mrs. Motivator. Since meeting Val, my outlook on life has changed completely. I remember saying to Val “I can’t run”. With Val’s encouragement, motivation and belief in me I now can run effortlessly. This has given me newfound confidence in myself and a real feel of freedom. I have also channeled this into my everyday life achieving goals and having a positive outlook on life. Take that first step to a new you.  Thank you Val."
